This statement got me thinking.
Does this mean that if I worry constantly about the potential food allergy risks my children are exposed to whilst on a family outing, I am inadvertently creating an allergy management incident - probably not!
But it does mean that my subconscious thoughts could impact on our experience. Can this be changed? Yes.
By ensuring that I have prepared us for the family outing as best I can, considering the potential risks we may encounter and then creating a real positive intention that we are going to have a safe and enjoyable time with lots of fun and freedom.
This will ensure that my focus is on the positive experiences we can have rather than the negatives one. Surely this must increase everyones chances of having a great time!
Hi Sarah, i totally agree with your blog. the power of words and thoughts are amazing, and lets be honest when you are out and about with your family you want to be able to enjoy yourselves.
ReplyDeleteI spent many years filled with dread and apprehension about family outings and way too much time and energy spent on the "what if's" only to reflect that this was time wasted.
ReplyDeleteChanging your focus seems an easy thing to do, but when your children's safety is at risk it can be quite challenging! But it is really worth practicing and like any new skill it can take time and be quite difficult but before you know it, it will become second nature and as I said before transform your experience. What is also wonderful is that it works positively on all aspects of your life to!
